This is my third attempt to create a definitive personal website. Before starting I asked myself what I wanted to accomplish by having a personal site (something I didn't do the first two times). I decided that, primarily, my website should express the best and most positive things I have to share with others. I believe that our lives, if/when we are living them correctly, should be a demonstration of our gratitude to God for having been alive. A website about a person therefore should be something of a celebration of that person's life mixed with an attempt to share what they find most worthwhile and/or useful from their own experiences. Such an exercise does not and should not include revisionist history, but is rather a conscious choice to view every glass as half full (or as full as possible), to take whatever lemons life may have given us and to use them to make lemonade. Additionally, we should be expressing (and constantly trying to live up to) the highest elements of our characters. As a result, I won't spend a lot of time on tears, regrets, fears or anxieties here. If people want to find the sad, the sick, the sorry or the sordid parts of anyone's life (including either mine or their own), they may find what they seek, but they will miss the point of and value in life. Worse, what they will spend their time focused on will be neither beneficial to them nor worthy of perpetuity. I hope that the content of this site entertains, uplifts, enlightens and/or elevates the thoughts of those who view it. I will do my best to make sure that it contains the best I have to offer.
The story of my website
I spent a non-trivial amount of time trying to come up with the best and most effective way to organize my site. Frankly I hope that a future version of iWeb (the software I’m using to design and build this site) will allow for drop down navigation from the bar above (so people will be able to access a lot more content directly from this page), but for now, the topics above will lead you to the main sections of the site and hopefully you will find what you are looking for from there.
As I develop the content for this site, I will spread out the use of pictures, audio and video as much as possible.
As with so many personal websites, this one gets worked on in my free time, which is not something I generally have in great supply, but hopefully I will be able to regularly add to it.
